London is only a starting point for the sky
One of many
Smiling is another
Trees are equally so
But the new spaceships are ready to go
And other older ones have been waiting for centuries
They do not resemble each other
They have such different shapes that the imagination has to imagine them
one at a time
in the flow of time
They are trunks of distant dreams
Yet they have something in common
They will never leave
Because they know without telling each other that the sky is blue
Only when viewed from Earth
That’s all folks
And London is only a starting point for the sky
Londra è solo un punto di partenza per il cielo.
Uno dei tanti.
Sorridere ne è un altro.
Gli alberi lo sono altrettanto.
Ma le nuove astronavi sono pronte a partire.
E altre più anziane attendono da secoli.
Non si somigliano fra loro.
Hanno forme così diverse che l’immaginazione
deve immaginarle una alla volta, nello scorrere del tempo.
Sono bauli di sogni distanti.
Eppure una cosa hanno in comune.
Non partiranno mai.
Perché sanno, senza dirselo,
che il cielo è blu.
Solo se visto dalla Terra.
E questo è tutto.
E Londra è solo un punto di partenza per il cielo.
